Smash Glam, More Than A Makeover

When we first started this business 3 years ago, we knew that our calling was to become apart of the makeup and photography industry. So we took the plunge and jumped in head first. We've perfected our craft and produced some of our best work yet. Our biggest challenge was how to take our business to the next level. So we refocused, studied our ideal client and surrounded ourselves with great mentors. Our journey as business women has been challenging but the drive and passion we have in us to pursue our dreams pushes us to take another leap into the next level and we are ready.
 
So who are we?   SMASH GLAM!!!! Smash Glam is a professional makeup and photography team specializing in career transformative services. We are expanding our services by offering various upscale beauty services, designed especially for women of color in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area.


Why are we raising money?

Smash Glam is on track according to research that states women owned businesses have to seek other funding sources to reach the next level in their business. We have been in business for 3 years by putting over $50,000 of our own money and sales profits into the business. In order for us to expand to the next level, we need access to more capital through crowdsourcing and angel investing.  

Our goal is to raise $105,000  by December 2016 in order to open our new location March 2017. 

The money raised will be used to:
-Move into a  2,000-2,500 sq ft location preferably downtown or the River Market area to provide easy access to our clients and SGAE mentees
-Our location will also be available as an event space to host trainings, seminars and special events from community members.
-Purchase all furniture, equipment and supplies to efficiently open for business
-To pay all license fees associated with opening business in the new location 
-Fund the SGAE Mentorship program

Why do we need your support?

Our business goals are to continue to brand ourselves in the marketplace, but to also expand our services which will in turn create jobs and boost our local economy. We want to give back to our community by providing a mentorship program that help educate young women on entrepreneurship. Over 50% of women of color live in poverty we want to bridge the gap by showing them there are opportunities of making money other than working a job. Our goal is to empower them to capitalize on their talents now by helping them develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills. A dream closest to our hearts is creating Smash Glam Academy of Entrepreneurship focused on young women ages 17-23.

We have recieved tremendous support from Go Topeka, Washburn Small Development Center and the Topeka Chamber of Commerce as well as mentors. We would love to get more support from our community as we develop a mentoring program for young entreprenuers.
