More Life for Jess!
Dear Friends and Family
As some of you know, our brother Jess, father of Alex, who retired to live in the Philippines with his wife Lina 10 or so years ago, has a life-limiting, soft-tissue cancer. He has had an exploratory operation, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and in early September 2017 was given six-months-to-a-year to live. Since early 2018 he has been taking Pazopanib chemotherapy tablets at home. These tablets are helping Jess a lot and he feels stronger, can move around more, and drive again. Recently he heard that due to taking the tablets the tumour has shrunk slightly and the cancer hasn’t spread anywhere else. So that’s the very good news!
The bad news is that the chemo tablets cost a staggering £1500 a month, and with a further £300 a month for painkiller patches and other medical requirements, it’s £1800 PER MONTH in total! Jess’s expensive health insurance policy pays for hospital in-patient and out-patient treatment, but won’t pay for medication administered at home.
As you can imagine, paying for this life-prolonging and enhancing treatment is rapidly depleting Jess’s and Lina’s savings, and he may have to stop taking the chemo tablets prematurely. So we have persuaded Jess to let us set up this GoFundMe crowdfunding account, as we think his friends and family may be glad of the chance to help out. We can now invite you to make a donation, if you are able. Even £5 (the minimum sum GoFundMe can process) would be very welcome and much appreciated. Donations can be made anonymously under a pseudonym, and can be one-offs or on a regular basis.
