Moose In Need - Zarah Delarosario

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Worldwide, breast cancer is the most common cancer for women but it affects both males and females. This year we’d like to shine a light and extend a hand to one of our own Moose who, just a month ago, was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Zarah moved to L.A. a few years ago and has been part of the UX team at Rapid7 for 3 years. With the diagnosis, no immediate family nearby, a sick mother overseas (whom she helps support), and the tragic loss of her father 4 years ago, Zarah is worried. We want to make sure she knows she is not on her own.
We are still waiting for some last minute details to be included in her treatment, but we know the upcoming surgeries, tests and doctors visits will not only put a toll on her physically, but also financially. Her bills are already racking up. The recovery time for just one of her surgeries is an estimated 6-8 weeks. She will not be able to work for a while and will be missing out on a large chunk of her income. We are asking for donations to help her get through this time financially and help with some of her medical costs and care payments.
Your support will allow her to focus on getting better and help her navigate the difficult months of treatment she has ahead.
Zarah is hopeful and wants to remind us all to take care of ourselves and each other. That the challenges you may be facing now will fade, but the ways in which you face them will become badges of hard-won experience that you can wear with conviction.
Yes, it's Breast Cancer Awareness month, and Zarah's putting a all-too-real face on this. One Moose is all about teamwork, and having each other's backs. Let's work together to support her through this difficult time - and address a major cancer at the same time.
