Mookie’s veterinary expenses

Update:

I am so heartbroken to tell you that our dear Mookie has moved on to doggie heaven. She was the best girl in the world and no one will ever take her place. She didn’t deserve to go through all the things she did. If love alone could have saved her she would still be with us today. I’ll never forget you sweet girl

Update:
As tears run down my face I am so heartbroken to tell you all that upon re biopsy of Mookie’s spleen, they did in fact find cancer. Jessica and I are devastated by the news. At this time we have decided to take her home and make her as comfortable as possible because since this cancer is so aggressive and has already spread, chemo will only prolong her life a very short time and the risk of a reaction the the chemo is too high. We don’t want to put her through anything else. She’s gone through enough in the past month. She has about a week left until her levels drop again to critical condition. All I ask is you pray for the strength to get through this awful time in our life. Thank you for everyone’s donations, love, and support. We cannot thank you enough for all you have done. Please keep sharing this page for us.

Hello friends and family,

As some of you may know, Mookie recenently had surgery in early December to remove a twisted spleen that was causing internal bleeding. Her surgery went fantastic and we thought everything was going to be ok. We were wrong.

Bringing Mookie home.

In May 2018 we took our best friend home for the first time. At 7 years old she didn’t have many visits in the month she was in the shelter. It seemed no one wanted her because of her age. When we first saw her we knew we didn’t want to leave without her. We couldn’t believe no one wanted this sweet girl. When she came home she absolutely lit up our lives and has brought so much love into our hearts. If you’ve ever met her, she’s the sweetest, spunkiest girl you’ll ever meet. She just loves to go wherever we do and can’t wait to snuggle up next to her moms after a long day of being a good girl. We can’t imagine a life without her.

Mookies health.
For the past two weeks after surgery (between dec. 14th and 28th) Mookie was not eating, she showed signed of lathargy and weakness, and was not acting herself. We the vet as well as myself thought this could be due to her medication upsetting her stomach and causing her to lose her appetite. It turns out that every time we have gone back to the emergency vet, her platelets levels and red blood cell count has been lower and lower since the surgery. These levels should have gone up after surgery and not back down. They ran tests but ultimately could not find anything that jumped out to them as to what was wrong. They told me to start her on an antibiotic and see if her levels go up by the time we came back on december 27th. Her red blood cells and platelets have plummeted even more and currently Mookie has been admitted to the hospital again in critical condition. They are currently giving her a blood transfusion and running tests to ultimately figure out how and why she is loosing blood.

This road to health for Mookie has been exhausting and stressful and if we could raise a little money to help aliviate the finachial stress we would be so grateful. Currently her Vet bills are up to $5000. Anything will help. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and donate. Even if you are unable to donate. Please share this with your family and friends so we can get the word out.

Love always,
Hailey, Jessica, and miss Mookie xo
