Montgomery Legion Poppy Campaign
The Montgomery Branch 351 of the Royal Canadian Legion is focusing on a new way of raising funds in support of our mission. In previous years our Poppy Fund resources were dependent solely on the Annual Poppy Campaign. With increasing costs and a reduction in volunteers, the Campaign is expected to fall short of our requirements. Through our GoFundMe campaign you can donate any time.
We would appreciate your financial support.
The Montgomery Poppy Fund is a registered charity. Registration number 10686 2790 RR0001. All donations $20.00 and over will receive a tax receipt.
Montgomery Branch #351 was chartered by the British Service League, the fore runner of the Royal Canadian Legion, on June 13th, 1945. Montgomery has operated continuously since then, at its current location. Montgomery is the oldest RCL Branch in the Ottawa region.
Our area of responsibility is the downtown core of the city that has an extremely high number of serving military and veterans. The area has the greatest concentration of homeless shelters in the region that support a high number of homeless veterans and their dependents.
The Montgomery Poppy Fund operates to provide assistance to Veterans, serving military, RCMP and their dependents.
In addition, we provide a full range of RCL services including:
Direct assistance for veterans and their families
Provide assistance to organizations that operate programs that support veterans and their dependents
Grants for students enrolled in College/University based on approval
Promote Remembrance activities such as school essay, poem and poster programs so that children become aware of the sacrifices that our veterans have made, and our serving military are making for our freedom
Funding for the Poster, Essay and Poems for schools within our boundary
Provide halls free of charge for challenged and under-developed groups within the community
Provide halls free of charge for other Veterans’ organizations, the Police, DND, Cdn. Coast Guard etc.
