After several days and nights of thinking about creating a GoFundMe page, we have decided to do so. I have witnessed the impact this network has brought to many families in need and that is why I believe it’s the best way to reach out to YOU and ask for YOUR HELP.
My name is Laura and I am writing this on behalf of my dear friend Carolina Monsalve and her mother, Maria Monsalve. For approximately 3 months, Maria had been experiencing pain in her stomach, discomfort while eating and drastic weight loss. She had a doctor’s appointment on July 26, 2016 that led to a Laparoscopy Surgery held on August 10th. Finalizing the surgical procedure, the doctor’s at Northwell Health LIJ Forest Hills Hospital diagnosed Maria with cancer in her pancreas, liver and gallbladder. To date, Maria has completed her 4th chemotherapy and is fighting the fight! Although she is covered under health insurance and as of today, the majority of the medical treatment has been covered, other expenses have emerged. Because Maria faces months of future treatment, to continue her battle, Maria will be unable to work her job and will be working towards recovery and healing!
I know this is the least we can do for these two amazing women of faith and strength. The battle is being fought by Maria and the army of people who have kept her in their prayers and continue to show their love and support through these trying times. The purpose for this GoFundMe is to help relief any financial burden that comes upon them. I believe in the power of faith and networks and I know that coming together will only show them that we have their back and we are also fighting the fight! From the bottom of my heart, I ask for your love, support, words of encouragement and prayers. Every little bit does count and can be of great help.
God gives his toughest battles to His strongest soldiers and we know Maria will come out victorious! Let’s come together through this platform and help relief any financial stress we can so they can focus on her journey to recovery!

Después de varias noches contemplando la apertura de esta página en GoFundMe, hemos decidido hacerlo. Soy testigo del impacto que esta página ha brindado a muchas familias que están pasando por momentos difíciles y por eso creo que es la mejor manera de extenderles la oportunidad de ayudar.
Mi nombre es Laura y escribo esto en nombre de mi gran amiga Carolina Monsalve y su madre Maria Monsalve. Hace aproximadamente 3 meses, Maria sintió un dolor en el estómago, dolor al comer y pérdida de peso drástico. El 26 de Julio del 2016 ella tuvo una cita médica que resulto en una cirugía, realizada el 10 de Agosto. Finalizando la cirugía, los doctores del Hospital de Northwell Health LIJ Forest Hills diagnosticaron a Maria con cáncer en el páncreas, hígado y la vesícula. Maria ha completado su cuarta sesión de quimioterapia y está batallando la pelea fuertemente! A pesar de que su tratamiento ha sido cubierto por su seguro médico, otros gastos han empezado a acumularse. Como Maria enfrenta meses de tratamiento médico para continuar su batalla, ella tendrá que dejar su trabajo y enfocarse en su recuperación y curación.
Sé que esto es lo mínimo que podemos hacer por estas grandes mujeres de fe y fuerza. Sé que la batalla la está peleando Maria junto a todo un ejército compuesto de personas que oran por ella y continúan demostrando amor, cariño y apoyo en estos momentos difíciles. El propósito de esta página es para ayudar aliviar cualquier carga financiera que se empiece a acumular. Creo en el poder de la fe y de las redes sociales. Sé que al unirnos podemos demostrarles que estamos con ellas en las buenas y en las malas y que somos parte de la energía positiva que necesitan en estos momentos. Desde el fondo de mi corazón les pido que compartan su amor, apoyo, palabras de fuerza y animo al igual que las mantengan en sus oraciones. Cada granito de arena es una gran ayuda y puede a llegar ser muy significativa.
Dios le da sus batallas más fuertes a sus soldados más fuertes y sabemos que Maria saldrá victoriosa de esta situación. Unámonos por esta causa y ayudemos a minimizar cualquier carga financiera o estrés que pueda hacer el camino un poco más fácil.
