Money for rent and food for single mom with cancer

Our mom is our rock. There are five of us; one married, three still living at home, and one in college. Raising five kids is no simple task, but our mom has always worked hard to care for us, to support us, and to make ends meet. She means everything to us.

In April, she was diagnosed with Stage One Rectal Cancer. It has been a scary time for all of us, but we are thankful that it was caught at this early stage and that the prognosis is good. However, she will still need at least two major surgeries: the first to remove the affected organs and create a temporary ileostomy, and the second to reverse the ileostomy and reconnect the colon. The recovery time will be long. If she needs chemo and radiation, her recovery will take longer, and the second surgery may be delayed. As a result, she will not be able to work for at least six months. As a single mom, she is the sole wage earner of the household; if she can’t work, she cannot pay her bills, her rent, or even for food. 

We know money is tight for many people. We are not asking for help with medical bills or special treatments. We are simply asking for help with the most basic needs: food and rent. Our mom has done so much for us, and now we are trying to take care of her. 

No amount is too small. Thank you for any help you can give to support our amazing mom as she heals.
