mom in real life MORE episodes

I am Tania Richard an actress, writer, teacher, mother and wife but not necessarily in that order.

mom in real life is a web series I made because I wanted to play a character that audiences don't normally see. I wanted to create a black character that wasn't a stereotype. And I wanted to create opportunities for a diverse group of artists in front of and behind the camera.

synopsis: mom in real life is a comedic web series about Rory Standerd;  a Black woman living in a suburb just north of a big city.  Rory fantasizes about being an idyllic wife and mom but alas it is only in her dreams.

mom in real life is raising funds to produce 3 more original episodes. I  produced 3 episodes with my own money after I didn't receive a grant.

Instead of giving up I dug into my savings and produced  3 episodes instead of the intended 6.

I am proud and pleased with the three episodes and I'd like to make 3 more.

We have already secured 60% of our entire budget and we need your help to get the rest.

I  would appreciate any amount to help me reach my goal.

Antoine McKay a fellow artist of color is the head of 858 Productions. His work can be seen on Fox's Empire and in his own web series Written Off.  858 Productions gives opportunities to other artists of color in front and behind the camera and helped produce season 2 of mom in real life.

These funds will enable mom in real life to hire 858 Productions again as well as finally pay the wonderful SAG actors who have played recurring characters and donated their talent for the first two season (through the SAG New Media Contract).

The opportunity to tell more of Rory's story (mom in real life season 1 and minisodes http://www.mominreallife.net ) a Black woman who isn't "sassy" or the "best friend" or a "magical negro" or any of the other stereotypes audiences are use to seeing means I can share a point of view that is rarely featured and needs to be seen.

Rory is a black lead character who is imperfect, sexy, in love with her husband, insecure, willing to learn and funny.

As a mother I strive to do my best and often fail. Fortunately I see the humor in most situations. I want all women to see themselves through the character of Rory in mom in real life so they know they aren't alone and in fact it's essential to have a sense of humor abut motherhood and marriage. Through laughter I want to topple the myth of perfection.

mom in real life isn't just for married women or mothers. It's for anyone (male or female) who tries and fails, picks themselves up and tries again.

It is part of my mission to have a diverse cast that reflects the real world. As the casting director it is my mission to be inclusive.

So if you'd like to see a story told through a diverse lens written, starring and produced by artists of color please give what you can to add to "the pot" so we can create 3 more episodes of mom in real life.

I'd be so grateful to be able to share more of this story. The next 3 episodes are already written! It would be affirming to know through your financial support that people want to hear stories from a different point of view.

season 2 debuts December 1st. You can binge watch it at www.mominreallife for FREE.
If you enjoy the episodes please contribute to have 3 more original episodes produced in 2017.

Your donation will enable me to continue telling Rory' story. It will encourage me to continue to tell diverse stories with the confidence that people want to see them.
