Mobility for Teri Lynn

Donation protected
Teri has been one of my best friends for 46 years. We first met in kindergarten, and formed an everlasting bond. Teri was not just your average kid, she was born with an awful birth defect called Spina Bifida. Spina bifida is the incomplete closing of the backbone. It cannot be cured.
I have seen this woman undergo extremely difficult surgeries throughout her entire life.
I remember when we were in grade school, she would go to the Shriners children's hospital, and come back to school with one of her legs in a cast, and for a long time it seemed like this were a never ending thing, first one leg the the other.  She would be out on the playground with her crutches doing her best to keep up with all of the other kids.
I recall one instance where she was being bullied and made fun of for her disability because she couldn't run. She puffed out her chest and said, " One day I'll be able to run faster than you (insert bullies name here)." I think that is the first time that I really witnessed just how very strong this beautiful woman is.
As the years as passed, this terrible condition has worsened for Teri. Her muscle strength in her legs is pretty much non existent, and she has been wheel chair bound for several years now.
Unless you have had to use a wheelchair everyday of your life like Teri has, you don't know the everyday struggles that she has had to contend with. She can't just hop out of the car like most people. Teri has to open the door, pull out her wheelchair, set it up and then slide herself into it. Doorways often aren't big enough to accommodate a wheelchair, sometimes there are steps and not ramps. Everything has to be carefully thought through when she goes almost anywhere.
Teri is a DJ at a popular radio station in the Cedar Valley area. She does a lot of remotes to promote her radio station, and she also is a disc jockey for wedding receptions and other gatherings. She is constantly having to take her wheelchair out of the car and then proceed to roll herself wherever she needs to go.
Can you imagine the toll that this takes on the arms of a person that doesn't have a lot of muscle strength to begin with?
Thus the reason I have started this GO FUND ME page. There is a really cool piece of equipment that attaches to the front of the wheelchair in essence making it  a 3 wheel motorized trike. It would make her life SO MUCH EASIER! The cost for this electric hand cycle is $2395.00 but I am asking for a little extra to allow for shipping. Here is the link for those of you that would like to see what your generous donation would be going towards.

Teri has been an advocate for people with disabilities for several years, helping to ensure that they can have the best lives possible. I love this woman with all my heart, and want to make her life the best one possible too. Please help me make this possible for Teri.
LETS DO THIS PEOPLE!

Thank you all for your support in this go fund me effort for Teri Jorgensen. She had no idea of my intent of setting up this account, and she is OVERWHELMED by the response.
I hate to say though, upon further investigation, she has come to the conclusion that this piece of equipment will not work for her wheelchair.
Teri does not ask for help much. She is very independent and stubborn and has the "I will take care of it myself attitude." ( Like you didn't already know!!)
All jokes aside... When I asked her what she REALLY needs, she replied "A wheelchair Accessible Bathroom." For the last 13 years Teri has put together funds into making her home accessible. It has slowly been coming together, but to be honest she is just simply out of money.
This wheelchair accessible bathroom is very costly and right now she is feeling pretty defeated. So, what I would like to do is revamp this go fund me account from getting a piece of equipment, to helping with the cost of something she really needs.
A Wheelchair accessible bathroom.
If you would like your donation to help with the cost of said bathroom, THANK YOU!
If not, we are able to refund your previous donation. I would hope that this change does not affect your willingness to help Teri, but
it is totally up to you.
Thank you again for your support!!
