Who We Are
A Thousand Metres Above (ATMA) is an international non-profit organization that supports healthcare initiatives in the Himalayas.
Who We're Raising Money For
We are working alongisde Indian NGO - the Ladakh Institute of Prevention - spearheaded by a prominent Ladakhi physician, to support 10 mobile health camps per year for 3 years to provide healthcare and education to some of the most isolated communities in the Indian Himalayas.
How Will the Money be Used?
ATMA prides itself on its grassroots approach to international development and are able to operate with incredibly low overheads. Less than 1% of what you donate goes to administrative fees, leaving >99% of your donation to go directly where it should - to the local community.
How Soon Will We Need the Money?
To run the camps this summer the first installment will need to be raised by the end of June 2017.
Why Should You Help Us?
The Ladakhi people of northern India live in some of the most remote and inhospitable regions of the world. For centuries their ancestors roamed the Tibetan plateau as nomads and today they are largely neglected by state and national governments. These are the forgotten people of the Himalayas and at ATMA we hope to provide a voice to the voiceless and give them the healthcare they deserve.
