About Funding the Memorial
A Memorial Ground-Breaking Event was held October 3, 2016 in conjunction with the Medal of Honor Convention. Although we have raised $530,000 or 70% of the $750,000 projected Memorial cost, we still need to raise $220,000 to construct the Memorial. 100% of every dollar you donate goes towards this cause.
Memorial Location and Purpose
The Memorial will be prominently located at the main entrance to the State Capitol grounds at the opposite end of the Mall in full and unobstructed view of the Capitol building. This site is historically where Cass Gilbert, Capitol building and grounds architect, along with Civil War, Spanish American, and WWI veterans serving in the legislature at the time had envisioned a memorial to all veterans of our nation’s wars. Past and present generations have come together to honor the selfless valor of our nation’s heroes with a prominent and enduring memorial.
