Cody's Celebration of Life Party

Cody Michael Kindseth was the kind of guy you wanted in your life whether you knew him or not. He was an amazing son, awesome brother, loving uncle, and a remarkable friend. Many of you knew him as the little brother you never had. He was caring and respectful and had a heart of gold.

As most of you know Cody Michael Kindseth passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015 at the young age of 22. He fought a tough, long battle starting out at about the age of 8 being diagnosed with a rare blood disease called severe aplastic anemia. He went through several trial runs of medicine at the U of M and none of those helped. It later turned into Leukemia and he had to recieve a bone marrow transplant. Due to the chemo and radiation treatments we were warned that serveral side effects could occur. Some of the major effects being high blood pressure, blindness, and kidney failure. He did great on his medications up until about 5 years ago when he was diagnosed with end stage renal failure (complete kidney failure). He had a port put in on his chest to recieve dialysis. Shortly after he started having seizures. He had several trips to the hospital with infections and was put on many other medications. He had dialysis 3 times a week, 4 hours a day for the last 5 years. Alot of times he would be super sick until his next treatment. He just wanted to be a kid. Up until 4 1/2 months ago that's when Cody got really sick. He had an infection in his blood and ended up in the ICU for 2 1/2 weeks. He recovered and came home and just kept getting sicker and sicker as time went on. Just in the past month he was in the hospital 3 times.

Last early Monday morning, on the 9th, he had a terrible seizure that lasted about an hour long. He was taken by ambulance to Mercy hospital. That's when we found out that he had a bacterial infection in his blood which attacked all of his organs including his heart and brain. Because of the infection in his heart they needed to do open heart surgery on 3 vavles but it couldn't be done. The infection was also in his brain and they told us it would never be able to be removed. Just in one day the infection went to his spine. Our family made the choice to let him go. They pumped him with high levels of pain killers and anxiety meds. After almost 24 hours of recieving the medications he took his last breath and passed away peacefully with his family beside him.

That night after we returned home after Cody's passing we discovered our home had been broken into. All of the money that we had saved up was gone. We now have no money to grant Cody's wishes to be cremated and to have a Celebration of Life Party. We are seeking help to raise money to grant Cody's last wishes. Please come together to help my family grieve and lay Cody to rest.
