"He who has health has hope and he who has hope has everything" Arabian Proverb.

WHO:
My name is Lylian and I am an intensive care nurse living and working in the Bay Area of northern California.
My Tanzanian tribal name Koku Shubira means the giver of hope. I invite you to donate to this campaign to bring hope and invest in the future of Tanzania.

WHAT:
Growing up in Tanzania I thought it was the norm to have malaria until I shared this with my American collegues and noticed how shocked they were. Malaria has been eradicated in the United States since the 1950s. Yet to this day, Malaria is the number 1 killer of children under the age of 5 in Africa.  90% of the half a million people who die each year from Malaria are in Sub-Saharan Africa.

HOW:
But there's good news. And this is where YOU come in. The Center for Disease Control tells us the use of insecticide treated bed-nets (ITNs) has been shown to decrease death by 20% in children under five.  Your donation will help provide this simple item to families in villages of Tanzania and educate them on its proper use.

WHY:
Malaria is an infectious disease cripling the continent of Africa . By investing in this campaign, you are investing in the future of Tanzania.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Miss Tanzania Bay Area 2017
