For Miss New York USA 2015!!!
Dear beloved family and friends,
I am so overjoyed to share my new endeavor with you all. I have been a busy little working bee these past 3 years in the big apple and have learned an incredible amount about myself coming back to my roots and the kind of life I want to lead. As you all know me very well it is easy to say that I am a big dreamer. I have always known the desires of my heart but the road has not always been clear. From doors closing to windows of opportunities opening, I find myself embarking on a new journey in the next chapter of my life.
As always the stage continues to have a piece of my heart. Acting is a great passion of mine which will forever continue to burn, but more than dreaming I so deeply want to start doing. Someone recently asked me "What is your dream? If you could be doing anything right now what would that be?" With so many answers running through my mind it was shocking to not have an immediate response. I told him "Theres just so much I wanna do.. its not just about living the dream for me but…I wanna go here BUT i need more…I wanna help BUT I have no…""Still!" he said "there should be no hesitation in your voice, no Buts." I realized right then and there those "Buts" have been holding me captive to my own freedom of expression for a long time. I have been blessed with many gifts but as I reflect on my proudest moments and biggest accomplishments, there is no greater dream in me than the one of connecting with the masses and affecting positive change and healing in the world.
I know there is a divine purpose for every step we take and I am a firm believer that God puts you exactly where you need to be even though you don't see the reason. So it is with an open heart that I am stepping forward in exercising my faith that I am indeed exactly where I need to be. So I find myself on this brand new stage. For the exposure, for the challenge, for the dream and most importantly for me, I am competing in my first pagent!
After years of watching the Miss Universe Pageants on TV with my family I still can't believe I have been selected as a State Finalist in the Miss New York USA Pageant!!! It is still so surreal for me and I almost don't know what I am getting myself into but as I said before I am confident this window was opened to me for a reason. The Miss Universe Organization provides incredible opportunities for today's young women. Through their mentoring, career training, resources, and life experiences these women are personally enriched through the organization's year round support in all aspects of their lives. As a delegate for this organization I believe I posses the characteristics to be a role model for a great cause.The opportunities are endless! From my own personal career goals to social and humanitarian work aspirations I believe the Miss Universe organization can hugely advance me one step closer to making my dreams a reality! Although this kind of competition is way out of my comfort zone I know its a challenge that will make me grow stronger and wiser. It means so much to me and sharing this experience with those I love and admire so much makes it even more meaningful.
I have contacted you because I cannot do this on my own. There is so much preparation from training to wardrobe and am hoping that you will participate with me as my support system! As contestants we are encouraged to reach out to our family,friends and community to sponsor us in the competition and in return you too get some recognition for yourself and/or your companies by being featured as one of my sponsors. The sponsorship fee is $1500.00, and you may contribute all or a part of it. My top sponsors will be recognized in the Official State Program and in press coverage...aka ill bring you with me to the to ;). The sponsorship is necessary to help cover the costs of the pageant weekend, such as hotel rooms, meals for three days, production costs, etc. However it is my responsibility to come up with all out other expenses towards hair, make up, photo shoots, dress,shoes, and personal training,etc. It can become a bit overwhelming and I am not in the fashion of asking for financial support but this is a completely new stage for me (Literally) and I would be humbled by any contributions from those who have loved and supported me from the start.
I sincerely hope you will choose to celebrate this event with me and look forward to keeping you up to date with my progress.
