UPDATE as of 8.9.18:
Thank you so much for your support of Dana thus far. The generosity and outreach has provided a much needed source of encouragement during this immensely difficult time.

The past few weeks have been challenging, and new developments have emerged as it relates to Dana's treatment. Because of this, we have increased our stretch goal to $40,000.

Doctors have confirmed that Dana will need to receive a bone marrow transplant with a pre-treatment plan that includes radiation. The potential of infertility following radiation is very high. Doctors are encouraging Dana to harvest her eggs prior to the procedure, so she can still maintain the possibility of bearing children in the future. Additionally, she will need 24 hour in-home care following the transplant, for at least one month. The mounting expenses include the following:

- Medical bills
- A need for fresh food between treatments
- A service to sterilize her apartment before she returns home from each treatment (chemo and transplant)
- Fertility treatment and egg harvesting
- 24 hour in-home care

Thank you again to those who have donated. If you are unable to contribute again, please consider sharing this link to help spread the word.  Again, your generosity and support is so encouraging. Thank you.

Original post below:
Our best friend, daughter, sister, niece and ray of sunshine, Dana, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) in June of this year. She has begun a very aggressive regimen of chemotherapy, which has been difficult. The goal is for Dana to undergo a bone marrow transplant.

If you’ve had the good fortune of meeting Dana, then you know Dana is an incredible person with an indomitable spirit. If you're reading this, chances are Dana has helped you or been there for you at some point in the past. Dana is a force -  she is one of a kind, she's the best friend you'll ever have, and we love her beyond belief.

If you don't know Dana, you know us and our families. We wouldn't be who we are without Dana in our lives. She's extremely special to us, and by extension we hope that makes her special to you. It is not Dana’s style to ask for help, so we are asking on her behalf in the form of this fundraising effort. This is a favor for me as much as it is for her.

A lot of people have reached out asking how they can help support Dana, and this is it. We'll be using the funds raised to cover medical costs and to supply healthy fresh food for Dana as she delves deeper in to treatment and prepares for her bone marrow transplant. This is the most tangible way to support Dana.

Our starting goal is $20k, which will cover Dana's meals for several months. It would be an incredible start. If we can reach just 1000 friends & family who donated $20, we'd accomplish our first fundraising goal. Additional funds will continue to relieve the unexpected and certain costs that will arise throughout the remainder of her treatment and her reentry back into her normal, healthy life.

Please help us make a difference in the life of a friend who brightens the soul of any person with good enough fortune to know her.

More details on Dana’s diagnosis are as follows:

On June 7th, 2018 Dana was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia affecting her T-cells. Upon receiving her diagnosis, Dana immediately began an aggressive regimen of Chemotherapy. This specific treatment calls for a month of in-patient treatment, which Dana has completed, followed by an additional 7 months of chemotherapy. After completing the first round of chemo, Dana faced major complications and the doctors deemed a bone marrow transplant necessary. The transplant will be performed once Dana is healthy enough to receive.

The biggest concern with this type of treatment is Dana’s compromised immune system, which makes her susceptible to a myriad of bacterias and viruses that our healthy bodies easily avoid. This has made her journey particularly difficult and has resulted in elongated and unexpected hospital stays.

We appreciate your love and support. Thank you for your generosity.
