Miss Jr Teen Maryland United States
Greetings family, friends and supporters!
My name is Carla R. Merriweather and I am the current Miss Jr Teen Maryland United States! This title allows me to compete in the Miss United States pageant in the Jr Teen division in Orlando, Florida, July 3 – 7, 2018 for college scholarship funding.
Getting this far has been an immeasurable blessing to me. As you can imagine, this amazing experience comes at some expense. It is my desire to request your assistance in this huge undertaking. No matter the size of your gift, each and every one will help me to reach my goal of $4,200. Your donation will allow me and my chaperone (Mommy!) with lodging and meals for the week, attire, photo shoots, and to further my pageantry training in preparation for the competition. All donations are kindly needed by June 15, 2018.
For those that have not been updated recently on how far I’ve grown, here is some information about me (Carla), the thirteen-year-old, eighth grader attending New Hope International Academy in Landover Hills, Maryland:
* My platform is “Art Says It” which supports and encourages children to express themselves through all forms of art i.e., dance, photography, drawing etc.
* My community service includes - Wonderful Wednesdays at school where we beautify the school inside and out; Mentoring Pre-K 3-4 students; and through New Hope Youth Dance Company, I participate in community service activities throughout the year. In addition, I will be volunteering this month with the Marcellus Dance Studio at their Spring Concert, assisting children fulfill their dance training goals through performance.
* I aspire to attend the University of Maryland, University College, Georgetown University or Howard University – my mother’s alma mater. I will study to become a neonatal nurse with a double minor in Spanish and Dance Theater.
*In my spare time, I love to dance, sing, shop, and sleep and I enjoy art and basketball.
* The best piece of advice I ever received was to “Always Let Your Light Shine” and “Work Hard So You Can Play Hard”!
* The most important thing I want others to know about me is my faith in God is my first priority and my favorite scripture is Psalms 23 which begins with “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want…".
