MISS COOKIE

Miss Cookie and Mariela are inseparable!! We adopted this sweet Pomeranian-Chihuahua last December from a pet rescue organization called Unchained Melodies of Columbia, MO. They save pets from some very cruel and unsafe conditions (hoarding, in Miss Cookie's case). We were very blessed that Miss Cookie took no time to warm up to Mariela. We think it's because they have so much in common: they both have long hair, dark eyes, love to play outside, and they even share the same favorite color--purple!
Sadly, however, about four weeks ago during a car ride, Miss Cookie jumped out of the car window. Luckily, we were only in a parking lot at the time and therefore driving very slowly. Miss Cookie did sustain an injury- a broken leg. She's been wearing a cast ever since, but when we took her for a follow up yesterday, the vet gave us very bad news: the cast had been ineffective. Miss Cookie has not healed a bit since the accident. The break is quite severe; our options at the point are surgery or amputation. The cost of surgery is $1700, an amount that our teacher salary simply can't sustain. Amputation is approximately half the cost, but we would like to avoid it if at all possible. Any financial help we can get would be much appreciated. We thank you in advance for your contribution toward getting Miss Cookie back to her playful self!
