UPDATE 2: Mischa's campaign will be closing over the next 72 hours. Despite the positive response and spreading effort of our friends, the campaign has failed to generate the results we hoped for. And sadly, it has allowed people from Mischa's past (whom she had previously and successfully cut off of her life) to use this platform to contact her and try to reinsert themselves into her life, as well as to out her (without her consent) to others whom she also had cut off from her life.
This has resulted in extreme episodes of anxiety, depression and psychosis, which had been previously kept under control thru medication and therapy (and the love and care of Mischa's friends). Nevertheless, mental health and peace of mind come first, money comes second.
Once more from the bottom of my heart I thank all my friends who encouraged me to give GoFundMe a try, and for their efforts to make it happen.

UPDATE 1: We're happy to inform all y'all that thanks to Mischa's friends, roommates, coworkers, and the team at Trans Lifeline Microgrants, we've received several generous donations outside of our GoFundMe campaign, and as a direct result, we're lowering our goal from $15,000 to $10,000.
The GoFundMe campaign will continue until the end of April.

Hello, and welcome to my GoFundMe!
So what are we trying to accomplish here? Welp, like most everyone else in here, we’re trying to fund the medical expenses of Mischa (hey, that’s me!). So who’s Mischa and what medical expenses is she trying to cover? Great question! Let’s see.
Mischa is a 35 year old transgender woman, who currently calls Denver her home. Mischa immigrated to the United States in 2002 from Mexico, and in the years since she has made a career as a teacher's aide for special populations (currently she works with autistic students Pre-K - 6th).
Mischa began her transition in May of 2016, and now that her hormone replacement treatment is nearing its 3rd year, she’s getting ready to undergo vaginoplasty (Gender Affirming Surgery). And here’s where GoFundMe (and hopefully y’all) come in!
Although Mischa’s insurance provider covers most of the costs related to her transitioning, there are costs that will remain. And as anyone who works in education can tell you, it doesn’t pay enough to cover most out of pocket medical expenses.
The goal for our GoFundMe is set at $10,000 to cover the following expenses:
Vaginoplasty - $2,500 surgery deductible
Hospital - $1,000 stay deductible
Voice feminization - $6,500 not covered by insurance. Entirely out of pocket
Currently a date for vaginoplasty has not been set, but the queuing process has begun and we’re hoping it will be set in May or June of this year, to coincide with the summer break period of Mischa’s students. With that in mind we’ll keep the GoFundMe active until our goal has been reached, but it will be updated when a date for surgery has been set, and a closing date will be then added to allow for funds to be made available for surgery, regardless of how far we’ve gone.
If by some unexpected flood of kindness we were to exceed our goal, the excess funds will be divided between Mischa’s outstanding student loans, and donated to a (to be determined) non-profit organization.
