Miracle for Martin

Donation protected
OUR GOD is bigger than an Anoxic Brain Injury. When doctors say there is nothing else we can do, that is when OUR GOD shows up to shake the world of medicine and defy all scientific explanation. We all are claiming and praying a Miracle for Martin!!

The morning of February 27th for the Johnson family started out no different than many other mornings.  But by noon,  their whole world had been turned upside down with so much uncertainty of what the future would hold. Here's their story;

Martin Johnson and his eldest daughter Katie Beth  (KB), woke and decided to go out for a run,  like they had done so many mornings before.  Running  was just one of many ways  Martin was able to connect and bond with his teenage daughter. They were in the process of training for an upcoming half-marathon,  so they had to get in some time pounding pavement. While Martin and KB were out, Kim, Martin's wife, was home with their other six children, Joshua, Andrew, Luke, Lauren, John Parker, and Ann Eliese.   Kim recalls starting the children on chores when she received a call from Martin's phone but the voice responding on the other end was not Martin. The woman on the phone informed  Kim, her husband was down in the road while her daughter was on her  phone with 911.  Not fully understanding the situation or what had happened, Kim quickly left her home to get to Martin and KB. She arrived at the same time the first responders were showing up.  Once there, KB was able to tell her mom what she recalls happening.

KB was running a little ahead, as she normally did, and her dad had made some noises.  The noises she heard were not anything abnormal for a man trying to keep up with his younger, faster daughter.  As KB turned around to tell him something,  she saw him falling to the ground. KB ran back and found her dad foaming from the mouth, and gasping for air.   She called 911 and during that time  two women stopped to help and render aid. One lady started to perform CPR while the lady's friend  called Kim.

Martin ended up receiving 26 minutes of CPR and is believed to have have been 6 minutes without oxygen. It was not until the ambulance arrived that Martin was able to be intubated .  Upon his arrival at First Health Moore Regional it was told and believed Martin had suffered a massive heart attack.  Further testing including a CT and EEG were performed. The results of these test revealed no damage to the heart other than him having Atrial fibrillation, known and referred to as AFib.  It was also determined by the doctors, Martin was suffering with an Anoxic Brain Injury, which is dying of the brain due to oxygen deprivation.  Doctors have determined and stated Martin is in a vegetative state. They are saying he only has enough brain stem to maintain life. Martin has not been on any machines to assist him other than having a tracheotomy,  which is only used to suction mucus off his lungs and a Peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC Line) used to give him nutrition and  antibiotics, if needed.  Martin is maintaining all body function on his own. When the doctors give a diagnosis that shows no hope, we say, OUR GOD is bigger than this diagnosis and begin praying for a miracle. Since February 27th, Kim and the children have maintained a strong faith in God and His will being done.  Their faith and OUR GOD has been giving them a peace that surpasses all understanding during this process.  Even though the doctors have said Martin's completely brain dead, Kim and others have witnessed signs of life that is not normal for a person considered clinically brain dead.

Signs of life witnessed:
-Moves his head away from the nurse when he's being suctioned
-Turns away from a cold rag being put on his face
-Closes his mouth when his lips are touched
-When Kim kisses him and her hair falls on his face he moves, as if it tickled
-Continues to move his feet into the position he feels most comfortable
-Opens eyes, blinks, and tracks to the position of person talking or sound
-Shows displeasure with grimaces and resisting
-Has ugly cried (full on tears and heavy breathing) while listening to worship songs played or sung over him
-Cries at times when being prayed over
-He was resisting the nurse and Kim told him to quit being pissy and open his mouth and he did so

These are just a few things OUR GOD has allowed Kim and others to witness to give hope and to show He's at work.  No one knows how long this process will take other than God. We do know God's timing is perfect timing and we stand in agreement claiming and praying for a full restoration and healing of mind and body.  We are praying for a miracle to take place in Martin that will show God's glory and goodness.

Since February 27th Kim and her children have stood firm in God's word and promises. Kim has held dearly to Romans 8:11
"But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through HIS SPIRIT who dwells in you." (ESV)
Kim believes God will provide all their needs and will make a way in this entire process. We stand and believe this with her and the children.  Kim would have never asked for a gofundme to be set up because she knows God provides.  I came to her with the idea of doing one so we, her family, her friends, her community, and the ones who want to help out,  can donate to alleviate the burden of the mounting medical bills and the day to day living expenses with the loss of an income.  So I am asking you all to please step in the gap and be the hands and feet of Jesus during this time for the Johnson Family. Prayer is the most important thing needed and asked for more than anything ; so if you can not contribute monetarily we ask you still pray for Martin and the entire Johnson family.  Our request is to pray for continued healing in Martin, for Kim to have peace and strength through the process of waiting, and Kim asks that you all pray for the children, pray for the children's hearts to be guarded during this time.  So I leave you with Romans 12:12 "Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer".  God bless you all and we will be updating soon.
