Mind Murmur - Burning Man 2018

Donation protected
Burning Man is a yearly gathering of fiercely creative souls, where art meets grit, and imagination roams freely. I've attended nine consecutive "Burns." Last year I brought Midnight Star (a NASA-inspired art installation) to the event.

This year, friends and I are furiously working on Mind Murmur, an ambitious art installation exploring neuro-technology and meditation. But we need your help!

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Beneath a glowing pyramid, a seasoned meditator sits peacefully in lotus position, wearing an EEG headset. As their meditation deepens, the pyramid pulses and responds.

Brainwave controlled. Alpha and Theta brainwaves bloom into rich fractal art and morphing video, illuminating the pyramid's walls.  A glittering EEG-responsive chandelier cascades color and light down from the pyramid’s pinnacle, toward the meditator's head.

EEG-synced Sound. Participants hear and feel the meditator's heartbeat magnified into deep-bass, mixed with a lush soundscape sampled from nature, space, anthropology archives, sacred tunes, and Burners murmuring self-authored prayers.

Interconnection. We'll translate into sound and visuals the beauty and mind-opening experience of meditation, focusing on non-ownership of consciousness.

(architectural plans for Mind Murmur)

Burning Man is built from the ground up by participants, for participants. There are no corporate sponsors, and Mind Murmur has no grants.

Please help us bring Mind Murmur to Burning Man by donating today!

Whatever amount you can give will be greatly appreciated. All labor (programming, building, designing) is done for free and for fun, with love. But to make this art happen, we'll need help paying for:

-- "smart" LEDS
-- EEG headsets
-- waterproof speakers
-- 2000 watt generator
-- two 4000+ lumen projectors
-- video-screen fabric
-- plywood
-- electrical cables
-- aircraft cable
-- hardware and fasteners
-- wood posts and beams
. . . plus a lot not listed here . . .

Yes, we're creative. Yes, we're scavenging everything we can (we are Burners, after all). But we'll definitely need financial assist. AND, PLEASE, if you already own and can contribute/lend supplies, let me know!

So, as I'm sure some of you know, creating Burning Man projects can be extremely challenging. Our team of programmers, AV artists, and fabricators stretch from Moscow to Berkeley. For Mind Murmur, I've spent hundreds of hours designing, researching, networking, planning.

Why do I do it?

Because. I want to share subtle insights into non-locality of consciousness gleaned from 10-years of meditating on boulders in dazzling sunlight. I want you to feel what the hills and trails of California have taught me: we ARE all connected.

Get ready folks. This installation will pulse with the hearts and souls of each person who helps bring it into being.

Peace, love, & namaste. The Light in Me Recognizes the Light in You.

Fundraising Goals

$3000 is a great start. That'll go a long way towards getting the basics for what we need. This is my first time raising funds for artwork, so please surprise me. Let's blow past the initial $3000 goal. Extra funds will mean bigger brighter projectors for dazzling fractals, more lights for the LED chandelier, better sound!

My hope is to share Mind Murmur not only with Burners, but at art and neuro-tech festivals around the world.

Shout out to some of my peeps helping with this project:
Aurel Jacquot, Julia Ferguson, Chris Adams, Hunter, Nikita, Egor Borisov, Andrew Sauer, Zakariah, Nir Lahav, Eti Ben Simon, Dogen...

And now, some more photos from our art installation last year.
