Mina's Summer Study Abroad to Australia
Donation protected
Hello, everyone! My name is Mina. I am a Portland Community College student, and I am very excited to have been accepted into the Ecology in Australia study abroad program for Summer 2019.
As a nontraditional college student whose only international travel has been to immigrate to the US, studying abroad was a concept that I never thought I would get to experience. This trip is not just going to be an educational achievement, but will also fulfill a life goal.
The exciting 3-week program will include:
> a bushwalking trek through the Atherton Tablelands
> an excursion to Yungaburra Village
> a geological walk through along coastal boardwalks at Cape Tribulation
> a rainforest canopy walk in Daintree Rainforest
> birdwatching in the Chambers Wildlife Rainforest
> an excursion to Lake Eacham
> a visit to the Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park
> ... and of course, snorkeling (and potentially scuba-diving!) on the Great Barrier Reef.
My estimated expenses include:
Program Fee $4005
PCC Tuition $498
Airfare (as of Dec. 2018) $1400
Passport $145
Meals $450
Books $50
Personal Expenses $300
(Here is a link to the official PCC Program Cost Estimate. )
I am asking for your help and support to make this dream happen. I have already submitted the $500 non-refundable deposit (which will apply to the program fee). However, I may not be able to participate in the program if I don't meet my funding goal.
While I am also expecting financial aid to cover some of these costs, I will be taking other classes in the summer for my final stretch on completing my associate's degree. As a full-time student, I am only able to work part-time, but I plan to take up extra hours to supplement my financial aid.
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and read, and please don't forget to share my page. I will be extremely grateful for any and all donations. ^__^
