MILLSTONE FAMILY NEEDS OUR HELP!!!

Donation protected
WOW! In less thay 24 hours, we raised over $9600!!! Absolutely amazing!

I've turned off donations at this time as we have raised enough money to satisfy the outstanding utillity bills, and get the service restored.  We expect that some of the appliances like the furnace and hot water heater may need repair/replacment...as well as some electrical work, so the additional funds raised will be used for those expenses.

I have left the story below if you haven't read it yet, and would like to offer help on any other way.

God Bless!!!

Brian

Hello friends and neighbors!

Wishing everyone the warmest and most joyous of holiday seasons.  It is a time of year where we gather with freinds and loved ones and truly cherish our many blessings.

However, for many, this time of year does not bring warmth and celebration. It brings bitter cold and feelings of desparation.  Friends, this is not happening somewhere in a far away land. It is happening right here in our community. When my good friend Joe Buffa, who you all may know from Admiral Water, told me the story below about someone who lives just around the corner from him, it really hit home.

One of our own, Cynthia Singh, has lived in her home on Woodville Road with her now 20 year old son Justice for the past 3 1/2 years with NO power, NO heat and NO running water.  Cynthia resided with her father and inherited the house when her father unfortuantely passed away in 2012. Little did Cynthia know that her father also left unpaid utellity bills totalling over $5,400, and until those debts were satisfied, she would not have access to the basic things you and I take for granted.

Although, Cynthia works full time at Brandywine Senior Center assisting and providing care to others in their most volunerable states, her income is barely enough to cover her tax bills and put food on the table. Even after suffereing a stroke 6 months after her fathers passing, Cynthia continued to work full time in order to keep a roof over her then 17 year old son's head, and make sure he was getting to school every morning.

As a student in Allentown HS, Jusitce would routeinely be mocked by other students for his appearance and wardrobe which did not meet the standards of some of the school's students from more affluent families.  Perhaps they did not know that Justice was unable to wash his clothes regularly, because his house had no power and no running water in his house.

When Justice's manager at the local hotel where he worked recently informed Justice that he needed to change his shift hours, Justice explained that he could not work that shift because he had to bring his mother to and from her job during those hours. This was not acceptble to Justin's manger who proceeded to dismiss Justin from his job, leaving him unemplyed. Another great holiday surprise for Justice and his mom.

So friends, as you sit in your warm family rooms in front of the fire with your loved ones, enjoying your favorite holoiday special on the TV, please stop for a moment and think about your neighbor...your son or daughter's classmate, sitting in a freezing, dark and silent home. Think about Justice making his daily walk to the neighbors to fill his jugs of water to bring back to his house so he and his mom could brush their teeth and wash themselves. Think about the difference you can make in two people's lives with a small contribution.

I have always told people, the thing I love most about Millstone is the feeling of community. We help watch and raise each other's children. We share in many good times on the sports fields and at each other's BBQ's. We are what I had always hoped to have from the place I call home... one big family. And I was always raised to remember that family comes first. And when someone in your family needs help, you do anything you can to help them, because NOTHING is more important that family.

Well friends, a member of our family needs our help. Its time to be the people and community we say we are. Please consider bringing the warmth and love of the holiday season to one of our own.

Thank you and god bless!
