Millie’s Vet Expenses

For the past 3 years, our lives have revolved around our sweet angel girl, Millie. Although she is a mere three pounds, she shows incredible amounts of love, and is loved by so many in return.

Starting Saturday, Millie began having seizures. We quickly rushed her to the vet, and were told it might just be a one time thing, nothing to worry about. Shortly after we brought her home, she had another seizure, and then another. It was our biggest nightmare and so horrifying to watch my sweet girl struggle. We again brought her to the vet, who suggested going to the animal hospital for 24 hour care. She stayed the night there without complications, and was put on medication to control what we thought was epilepsy. One day later the seizures began again, and she began pushing on her head as if in pain. We could tell something more than epilepsy might be going on, and brought her back to the hospital. This time the doctors explained she would need an MRI, so she stayed overnight again and received the scan the next morning. From the MRI, it was determined she has an inflammatory condition of the brain known as granulomatous meningoencephalitis (GME), which in dogs is thought to be due to an autoimmune process causing the body’s immune system to attack the brain. This condition is very serious and needs to be treated aggressively with medication. She has been overnight in the hospital for the past two nights, and will remain here two more nights as they begin chemotherapy and steroids in efforts to suppress her immune system and control the inflammation.

Our Millie means the world to us, and it’s so painful to watch her struggle, and leaving her overnight in the hospital is heartbreaking. We are so hopeful and thankful that her doctors are working hard to help her. 

Some have asked how they can help and donate, so I am starting this page in efforts to help my mom pay for all the expenses of overnight vet bills, testing/treatments, and the MRI, which are adding up rapidly. My mom has selflessly accepted bill after bill in order to get the best treatment for our baby girl, but any help is appreciated more than you know.
