Miller Family Fire Relief

$19,400 of $24,000 goal

On Thanksgiving Day, my 16 year old son Jackson, his dad Paul and Jackson's 98 year old grandmother, Dorothy, lost everything to a devastating house fire.

Thankfully, Jackson was out of the house and Dorothy and Paul escaped without harm. However, they lost virtually all of their possessions.  Tragically, due to circumstances out of their control, there was no homeowner's insurance on the home or contents.

Their immediate needs are great. Although some of Jackson's clothing was with him at the time. Dorothy and Paul have no clothes, food, personal items,  household goods, furniture or a working phone. They will need money for replacements and many other things we all take for granted.

Additionally, without a source to rebuild their home  of 40 years, the city will likely require the house to be torn down soon.

At 98 years old, Dorothy has vision and hearing problems that make getting around in unfamiliar places more difficult. Because of this, finding a permanent solution for housing is critical.

In such a short period of time, we have all been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support by neighbors, friends and family. Many people have asked how they can help.  We are hopeful that you will consider a donation, big or small, so that they can start to rebuild  their lives. Your support will be incredibly appreciated as they try to cope with this loss.

Please feel free to share this post. We all want to do all we can to help Jackson, Dorothy and Paul get through the holidays and start the new year on a better note.

We're very happy to update everyone that Dorothy, Paul and Jackson have a nice warm home in Rochester that they're currently living in. They were able to celebrate Christmas together as a family thanks to the generosity of our community, friends and family.

Working through the cold, Paul has been able to salvage some family photos and heirlooms that had been stored in tubs with lids, from a few different places in the house.

They are currently looking at options to determine whether the house can be renovated or whether it will require full demolition.

Unfortunately, a large portion of the second floor was soaked with water from the fire and a portion of the roof, which collapsed, is now frozen solid to household items, debris and the floor, making the ability to tell the condition of the structure difficult until spring allows for these areas to thaw.

In the meantime, Paul contines to clear out the debris in hopes of locating those items that were miraculously saved from fire, smoke and water.

Thank you again so much for your help and support. Knowing that there is a community of people who care has been the greatest gift!

We are happy to let everyone know that Jackson, Dorothy and Paul have found a ranch to live in that will be great for helping Dorothy get around with her diminished vision. They will be able to move into the house about December 4th. In addition to the gofundme fundraising, they are being offered household items to make the house liveable. Thank you all for all you have done and continue to do for a very grateful family!

Paul, Dorothy and Jackson have been so thankful for the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, community and strangers over the past 3 days. Not only have they been supported financially, but also by people stopping by with clothes, dinner and many other offers. Thank you!
At this point Paul has been able to replace his missing ID and we are looking for an apartent for the family. Again, it's been only with your support that this has been possible. Thank you all so very much!
