Mike Watson Cancer Fund

On August 24th, Mike Watson was doing what he does best, playing music for an appreciative audience. Just into the second set of the show, Mike fainted and fell to the floor. An ambulance was called and Mike was whisked away to the hospital. What started out as a suspicion of heat stroke ended up with a very different outcome from what was expected.

That night, Mike was told that he had cancer in his lungs, stomach and brain. Eventually, he would learn the lung cancer is stage 4 and incurable.

Mike has been a fixture in the Atlanta music scene since the 1980’s. He has toured in support of top headliners, led country bands through the heyday of local honkytonks and is now one of the top bluesmen around. Mike has fans and friends all over the southeast. People are drawn to him not only for his talent but for his spirit and style.

Mike and Kathie, his wife of 40 years, have 2 beautiful daughters and 2 grandchildren who have stolen Mike’s heart! Mike is especially fighting to have more time with his grandchildren.

Now, Mike begins a new journey, battling the monster we know as cancer. We all know that most working musicians survive on limited incomes and the expenses related to fighting cancer can be overwhelming. It is time for all friends of Mike to step up and help this man and his family get through this ordeal. Any amount that you are able to contribute will be appreciated more than you know.
