Mike Hoffman

May 19th 2018 was our first pre-benefit ride of the year. We had seven motorcycles with ten riders, we were going east bound on a two lane highway. A Silver Chevy Pickup traveling West bound was driven by a 64 yo driver. He fell asleep and crossed over into the East bound lane. 2 bikes had to lay their bikes down to avoid a head on accident. 1 rear ended but kept it up, as the other went down. Mike Hoffman was critically injured and air lifted from the scene. He has very severe head injury. Jeff Johnson went by ground ambulance, has a shattered humerus and a broken ankle. He had the best surgeons working on him. Reggie Ortega had a concussion and a laceration on his head and was driven by car. Mike's passenger Kessa also went by car, she has abrasions and sore but is walking. All went to Saint Mary's in Rochester. Reggie and Kessa were treated and released on Saturday. The funds are to help through the many months of recovery.

Jeff is at home recovering and has asked that we change this over to just assist Mike. Jeff will still be healing for a couple months also.

Mike Hoffman will probably be at least a couple more months. He has started some physical therapy. Sitting on the side of the bed and in a chair for about 10 minutes. Working on balancing himself side to side and front to back. Look's like he's trying to stand up. His activity changes from day to day, responding with lots of eye movement watching. Grabbing hands and taping hands with his finger. He does a parade wave bye. Loves his stress balls. Doctors checking the flap area swelling with a CT scan and a touch evaluation. Hope to replace his scalp before moving him. Dr took out his staples and put a hat on so he doesn't mess with the scar. He is ready to move to the new facility. Likely be next Tuesday/Wednesday.
