Midland Indians Campaign To Rebrand

Donation protected
The Midland Indians are the competitive men’s hardball team for the Midland area. The team was revived nearly two decades ago in an effort to bring competitive hardball back to the region, and the branding of the team was intended to pay homage to the 1960’s-era championship Midland team, whose successes the team hoped to emulate.

With more open dialogue in recent years about the negative impact of racial appropriation inherent in the “Cleveland Indians” style of branding, discussions about re-branding the team have taken place. The team does not wish to contribute to any racial stereotypes or discrimination, and instead would like to help enhance our local community through camaraderie and sport. In the future, the team would like to continue the town’s hardball legacy, but under a different banner.

By re-branding the team, Midland’s competitive men’s hardball team would like to send a message that they represent this community, under an inclusive and respectful name and mascot.  As a non-profit organization, we have always relied on rigorous fundraising efforts to cover yearly expenses. New uniforms are always a costly endeavour, but we hope to accelerate the process with the help of our community members.

Any money raised above our goal will be donated to Midland Minor Baseball. We greatly appreciate any support, and as always invite everybody to come cheer us on at Tiffin Park.
