Public School Music Class Supplies

Hi everyone. My name is Ava and I’m a pianist. I recently graduated from the Juilliard school and since then have become a fellow at the ArtistYear organization. ArtistYear aims at providing arts education for title 1 schools, and I have been working full time at the Waterside school for leadership, a middle school in Rockaway park Queens. My goal is to build and expand a music program for my students and to this end I offer classes and lessons to teach keyboard, songwriting, and music appreciation. 

I am really proud of the progress that my students have made so far, despite having limited resources. Right now my keyboard students, who had never played keyboard before, are preparing for a recital in Brooklyn. My songwriting students have written their own beautiful songs which we are hoping to record and publish.

I am holding this fundraising, hoping to provide the financial means for these activities, to book a concert hall, and to record and publish their songs, but more importantly to provide some basic resources that we lack at the school and are not able to afford. 

Particularly, I desperately want to get some instruments for the kids, including two digital pianos, we don’t have any at the moment, and a set of percussion instruments, as the kids really love to form a percussion ensemble at the school.
