Michael's Cancer Treatment Support

My husband, Michael (42), has been diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer). He is scheduled to have surgery to remove the kidney on November 3rd, 2017. We are hopeful that the cancer is contained to the kidney but won't know for sure until the surgeons are in there and pathology is performed on the tissues. He has been off work for over a month. We are unsure of his date of return at this point. I am working but have had to take time off to take care of appointments. There are upcoming expenses of gas money (it's a 3 hour trip one way to Ann Arbor where he is being treated), meals, and lodging for me to stay close to him during his stay there that I am not prepared for at this time. Michael was the major financial support in our family. Without his income, we are sinking fast. It is very difficult for us to ask for help, however, we have been asked by many people how they can help. Quite honestly, financial assistance is what we need the most right now. And lots of prayers.
I know he will receive the best care at U of M hospital. I trusted my life to them when they did my open heart surgery 5 years ago. He is in good hands.
