MIRACLE FOR MIA
My beautiful niece Mia was diagnosed with PNET cancer (Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor) on May 19, 2015 - eight days after her 15th birthday.
Mia Miyamoto was born May 11, 2000 to Amy McGivern and Kurt Miyamoto. She is an active teenager, with a love of soccer and hanging out with her friends. She has a smile that can light up a room and a heart that can warm it.
On March 31, 2015 while practicing soccer at school, she tore her ACL in her left knee. She had surgery to repair it in mid-April and was recovering very well.
A couple weeks later, Mia started having side pain. On Saturday, May 16, 2015, Mia was short of breath and taken to the hospital to check for blood clots. However, the CT scan showed no clots, but revealed a mass in her chest they feared was cancer.
After many tests, Mia was diagnosed with this rare cancer known as PNET.
Mia bravely began her first round of chemotherapy yesterday, May 21, 2015. As Mia faces her battle with treatments including chemotherapy, surgery and radiation her family will face mounting expenses.
If friends and family can come together to help with unexpected, uncovered medical expenses, Mia and her family can focus on the fight, and battle this awful disease without the additional stress and worry of mounting medical costs.
