Miechen's Fight Against Cancer

Hi everyone,
This is our beautiful mother, Miechen (Meek-in). She has been fighting an extremely rare cancer since 2010 when we discovered she had a Krukenberg Tumor. It was found because one of her ovaries was so large it was pressing on all of her other organs causing a lot of pain. Doctors discovered the primary site of the tumor was located in the colon. She had to undergo a surgery so invasive that doctors knew that in order for her to survive, she would first have to survive the surgery. Under 100 people have been diagnosed with this cancer in all of North America.
She had another surgery, plus chemo and was fine for a year and then it returned locally in 2013. She had chemo again with radiation and surgery. A little time went by, and again needed surgery this past December to remove more cancer.
It has recently returned and is more systemic now, meaning it has spread to her liver and lung. Luckily, she is a fighter! But, we need a new approach. There are a few compelling alternative therapies that are not covered by insurance, so we are asking for help. Her medical oncologist is supportive of these therapies in conjunction with traditional treatments, and she will be monitored very closely.
Our Mom has worked as a birthing nurse for 25+ years. She has dedicated her life to caring for others and bringing life into the world. Now, we are fighting to keep her in this world too!
