Sweet Baby Avery Anayah

On Sept 27, 2018,  my Granddaughter, Avery Anayah Hancock arrived.  Avery was a healthy 7lb 6oz full-term baby when she suffered a difficult delivery and the ensuing trauma. During delivery, Avery turned and was lodged in the birth canal. Due to the stress, she passed meconium while still in the uterus and inhaled amniotic fluid and meconium. The delivery team was forced to fracture her clavicle to deliver her. Upon delivery, she had lost 98% of her lung capacity.

In our beautiful baby girl's short two weeks here, she has undergone surgery to bypass her lungs, using an artificial lung to circulate oxygenated blood back into her bloodstream (ECMO) and is breathing with the assistance of a ventilator.  My son, Billy held his daughter for the first time four days ago. With the power of prayer, God's will and the incredible professionals at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida,  Avery is showing improvement every day. There have been complications and setbacks, i.e. pneumonia and constant sedation as she gets stimulated easily which increases her heart rate and respirations but Avery is a courageous little fighter! Her mommy and daddy take 12-hour shifts daily staying with her so she is never alone, which is difficult with a three-year-old, my Grandson, Aydenn at home.

We were blessed that Avery was born @ Shand's where they have a world class Neo-Natal Unit and who have saved her life several times in the last two weeks. We do not know when Avery will come home, it is day to day, but she continues to improve miraculously.

I've begun this campaign for my granddaughter as I know there is the financial strain for my son and his family of the daily commute back and forth to the hospital  (one car and they do not live in Gainesville),  childcare for Aydenn, food while at the hospital, etc.  We have also been told the cost of continuing care for Avery once she comes home may be extensive.

If you are able to assist, however small I am eternally grateful. If not financially....... keeping our little Avery Anayah in your prayers would mean the world to me.

Please help us to make sure Avery has the best possible start in this world. We know she is destined for great things!

I thank you from the bottom of my heart,

Sandy Scott
