Mentivity: Mentoring Our Youth

WHAT AND WHERE IS MENTIVITY?

Mentivity is a Bespoke Mentoring Service and Alternative Educational Provision based across London and surrounding counties. At present we are delivering in 15 schools, at both mainstream and pupil referral schools and will be launching an extra curricular programme in Peckham at the Damilola Taylor Centre in late September 2018.

Mentivity was founded collaboratively by three men born and raised in the Walworth, Peckham and Camberwell wards of the London Borough of Southwark, Sayce Holmes-Lewis, Leon Wright and Tyson Holmes-Lewis.

We have identified the need for an inspirational service that can support young people deemed "at risk" of gang culture/violence and on the "margins" of society both at school and wider society.

Our holistic offering, provides on-going support within Pupil Referral Units and Mainstream Schools using a variety of tailor made methods and interventions, deemed necessary and appropriate for each individual young person. We also offer  accredited outcomes for our young people, to give further grounding to our work and satisfy formal learning outcomes both educationally and holistically within the school setting, for each young person that we work with.

WHAT WE DO AND HOW?

Our unique strength is delivering a high quality service that is relevant and tailor made to our clients, within both curricular and extra-curricular time and is directly beneficial to our young people, families and clients in the local community.

At Mentivity, we are proud to offer our services and home visits outside of ‘normal’ school hours that gives our young people visible support and guidance, in addition to school contact time. This prolonged approach is key to our methods and assists us in maximising positive outcomes for young people involved within the Mentivity programme.

We are also proud to be able to send our inspirational mentors directly into schools, to work in conjunction with our clients and help prevent marginalisation before they are placed in alternative educational provisions. Earlier intervention is key to our processes. We have a proven track record of inspiring our clients to do better, be better and assisting them through the often difficult journey of adolescence and the pressures of educational attainment. New partners can rest assured when working with Mentivity. 


WHY WE NEED THIS MONEY... WE DO NOT RECEIVE ANY GOVERNMENT FUNDING!!!

In essence we are trying to prevent incidents of gang violence that taken many of our young people so prematurely and tragically, such as Rhyhiem... through our preventative work.

We have been in existence for two and a half years and have generated income solely from our private schools work to deliver our holistic programme.

This funding will allow us to offer additonal engaging educational activities during extra-curricular times to promote community cohesion and sustained support for our young people outside of school. It will also help us to cover our minimal overheads for our facilties hire and staff costs.

Our passion and drive to improve the social and educational outcomes for our young people will continue to be at the heart of all of our work. We want to create a legacy so that our work will continue in our community long after we have departed this Earth.

We are committed to helping our young people giving them the opportunity to achieve their potential and shape their future through empowerment, accountability, critical thinking, responsibility and humility.
