Memorial for Hereditary Chiefs

Donation protected
Memorial for the fall of 2018 for Hereditary Chiefs of Coast Salish Chiefs South Islands; British Columbia.

September Equinox in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada is on October 7th, 2018 at 1:02 pm PDT (Change city)

Historical potlatches were forbidden for almost 150 years, and we would like to have the first one in Honor of our Hereditary Chiefs that passed over the Rainbow.

We are campaigning for a Memorial which involves planning and preparing. We buy:

blankets - for elders and witnesses, pendleton
food - salmon, elk, duck, berries, potatoes, veggies, cake or pies to serve
gifts - handmade - various gifts, dream catchers, carvings, drums
pay for speakers - special speakers that speak both languages are hired to speak to the crowd
dancers - mask dancers or youth dancers and women dancers in celebration
wood - for fire, we pay for wood cutters and wood
fabric to make ceremonial gowns - need fabric and sewing machine :(
expenses - for all expenses and travel for arranging
hire carvers to make ceremonial drums, rattlers,

hire someone to make shawls and dress attire
beading for various cultural jewelry and attire
show photo's - photos are enlarged and viewed by guests and witnesses
Burner - a spirit guide for burning and watching fire.
give-away; many gifts are given to witnesses and special guests and witnesses.

gifts for give-away eg. homemade jam, jewelry, blankets, shawls, cedar hats, baskets, boxes, bags of rice, sugar, ribbons, nick nacks, many items big or small - both store bought or handmade, etc.

We would like to video record event, and rent a microphone for speaker of the event, and spirit guide to speak to guests at the end.

Expecting approximately 250 guests and witnesses (more will come; 250 will be invited, but more will come to honor the Chiefs that passed over)

Families will donate - but, again they live in poverty and that is why I am campaigning for donations! :)

Our cultural and spiritual ceremonies are not recognized by Canada!

Its honor ceremony for our ancestors (Hereditary Chiefs) that died, with a feast and give-away in honor of their memory.

Seeking donations for event, because it has been a long time coming. Many families need this potlatch, because we believe that life never ends, there is a continuous rebirth. Please help us by donating.

Campaign has been pushed back, because of all the ceremonies, big house season, and memorials. Peace to Nations, love & light Sharon
