Hi, My name is Aaron Austria. I am 18 years old and would like to tell the story of my Mother, Liza Austria.
Liza was diagnosed with stage IV Lung Cancer in the summer of 2015. She had never smoked prior to being diagnosed. She had an initial prognosis of only 6 months. After 3 years, on July 9th 2018 she finished her battle at the age of 48. Liza was an extremely selfless person she dedicated her life to helping people as she was a nurse. Everything she did was to ensure that my brother, sister and I had the best life that she could provide for us. Even in her 3 years of fighting, her determination to stay strong and continue fighting for her children was admirable and inspirational. Even though she was the one who was sick, she made it her number 1 priority to help others, even though it was her who needed the most help. She endured hardships, physical and emotional pain yet she did not falter. I am honoured to call her my mother.
Through the course of the 3 years, there were many things that my mother would have loved to have experienced, but due to her having lung cancer, she would not have been able to cope with flying on a plane due to the pressure or other extreme activities, thus not only could she not travel, but she was unable able to see her Parents and siblings who lived in the Philippines.
October is Cancer Awareness month. Because of the type of cancer that she had and the experiences that she couldn't do, I feel that it would be fitting to raise money to do a Skydive to honour the beautiful woman she was. My sister, Alyssa Austria, and I, will use the donations, to fund the skydive and the extra money will be donated to cancer research.
Due to me being at University at the moment, we are planning to do the Skydive either before the end of 2018, or January 2019.
