Michael Shales was a man who was full of life and never without a smile. He never met a stranger and would always help you at the drop of a hat. The joy he found in life by the constant pursuit of his passions was contagious to those around him. His love for his family was apparent as was the pride he had for his kids. Mike was a true rarity that touched countesses lives between his adventures on the trails and rivers, to his many trips or even his days as a Chiropractor. Mike was one of a kind.
On Thursday evening, Michael Shales very unexpectedly passed away while Mountain Biking on Monte Sano from a Heart Attack. With this sudden tragedy, the hope is to find joy in the legacy that he left behind.
As Mike was an avid Mountain Biker, we would like to donate a Bike Repair Station on Monte Sano in his name. The joy of knowing people can stop and fix a tire or take a break while sharing their favorite Mike story lends itself to finding peace that Mike will continue to live on in our hearts while we reflect on a place he held dear.
100% of the funds up to $1,500 will be given in Mike's name to the Land Trust of North Alabama who will issue that Bike Repair Station in his name. We will present this to his family as a gift. After the initial $1,500 has been raised, 100% of the remaining funds donated to the family in order to help with any Medical Bills or Bereavement costs.
