Memorial Fund for Dennis Ihus

Donation protected

The Ihus family are heartbroken to announce the death of our beloved Father, Husband, Son, and Brother, Dennis G. Ihus (September 8,1950 - December 16, 2018) in Carrollton, Georgia. He fought a good fight, but due to extended lack of oxygen there was no recoverable brain functionality after the industrial lawnmower accident and subsequent trauma heart attack.

Despite owning his own business Dennis didn't have any life or accident/work insurance and his family are desperately trying to raise funds to give him the send off he deserves. Funds will go toward the cremation, interment and interment with other family members in shared crypt in Wisconsin.

A BIT ABOUT DENNIS:

Dennis loved his community and had a passion for helping others through his life. His youth was spent playing the trombone in the Green Beret Marching Band and involved in Boy Scouts, where he reached the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated in 1969 from Parker High School in Janesville. Upon attaining his B.S. in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, and a Masters in Social Work Administration from University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, he was hired by the Boy Scouts of America as a Field Coordinator in the southern suburbs of Chicago and later in Gary, Indiana. He then moved to Mauston, Wisconsin where he farmed seasonally and he worked for the Juno County Department of Family and Children Services in Mauston, Wisconsin. In 1981, the family relocated to Georgia where his entrepreneurial spirit was put to the test with the first of three businesses, ACR Media, which specialized in sending advertising flyers to homes. In addition to ACR Media, he also founded Green Thumb Grounds Maintenance, and Dennis Ihus, LLC, both of which specialized in Grounds and Property Maintenance.

He was an all-around “good guy” in addition to a talented third generation quilter, animal lover, and gardener. He also enjoyed traveling, reading novels, anything sci-fi related, singing in the church choir, was involved in the United Methodist Men’s Group, and had regular breakfasts with “the guys”.

Dennis would be proud and grateful for the chance to help someone else, and his last wishes were to donate his organs to others. Thanks to LifeLink and the Georgia Eye Bank - parts of him will go on to help others lead enriched lives. His liver has a confirmed match and will be going to someone at Emory later tonight. His corneas will see another sunset in an individual here in the southeast. His heart and pancreas will go to the students at Georgia Tech; his kidneys to Emory University Medical School so that they can learn to treat other patients
