Memorial Fund for Baby Ezekiel

Donation protected
My daughter, Hope, and her husband, Tyler, were married on September 3, 2016.  They soon discovered that they were going to have a honeymoon baby. Imagine our surprise and joy when the first sonogram revealed TWINS!  Hope and Tyler have been preparing for their baby girl, Faith, and their baby boy, Ezekiel.   The pregnancy has progressed without any complications.  Strong heartbeats were heard each visit to the doctor, and both babies appeared to be growing just fine.

On April 19, the visit to the doctor revealed another positive sonogram with both babies looking great.  However, on the April 26th visit, the doctor was unable to find a heartbeat for their baby boy, Ezekiel.  There are no words to describe the shock and devastation.  Even the doctor was surprised as there were no signs of any issues.  He was unable to tell what happened by looking at the sonogram.  A specialist was called in, and he did not have an answer for us either.  Hope was nearly 35 weeks pregnant.

Baby Faith appeared to be doing fine, so they admitted Hope to the hospital to monitor Faith's heart hoping they could keep Faith in utero for another week or so.  My daughter sat in the hospital for nine days knowing that her beloved son had passed away.  Hope is such a strong, positive person that she has become known to the nurses as the "easy" patient.  She has maintained her sense of humor and belief that God is good and faithful.

On Friday, May 5, 2017 at 36 weeks, Hope gave birth to Faith and Ezekiel through a C-section.  Baby Faith came out screaming and weighed 5 pounds 15 ounces.  What a blessing that she did not have to go to the NICU!  Baby Ezekiel weighed 3 pounds and 14 ounces.  The doctor knew immediately what had happened.  His cord had a weak spot and had begun twisting until it got so tight that it cut off all of his oxygen.  This is something that can not be  seen on a sonogram.

Our hearts are broken but we also know that we have the blessing of Faith (literally and figuratively).  Hope and Tyler would like to have a service for their beautiful baby boy.  They would like to lay him to rest in a cemetery in a town nearby so that each year near Faith's birthday they can take her to his gravesite and release balloons.  We have pictures of him, and we will tell her about her twin brother who would have given her all kinds of heck!

Due to this unforeseen tragedy, Hope will have to miss work for about 8 weeks with no pay.  We have called for information on funeral and burial expenses.  The estimated cost is $5000.  If we raise more than the needed amount for the funeral, we will use the money toward the medical expenses that were accrued during Hope's extensive hospital stay.  We will have to pay for the funeral very soon so we can schedule his service.  As Hope's mother, I will be in charge of the expenses for Baby Ezekiel's funeral.

Thank you so much for any donation you can make.  In honor of Ezekiel, please remember to hug your loved ones as often as you can and to never take life for granted.  God bless all of you.
