Memorial for Gerry Valdez Rayray Jr.

Gerry Valdez Rayray Jr. was born on August 17th 1991. He had such an amazing sense of humor, love for the outdoors, a contagious smile, & an enormous amount of love for his family and friends. He also had a God given talent for soccer. He played since he could walk, helped coach his younger brothers soccer teams and played in the Kaua’i men’s league The After Burners. It was his passion but he had suffered multiple concussions from it. He started having seizures early this year; and doctors couldn’t pin point what was causing them. We believed it was his concussions. Leaving him with little room to play anymore, he was heartbroken. He had also been battling a deep depression since his best friend Lucas Riley passed away. Drugs had come into his life and he had lost sight of hope and faith. On December 29th at the age of 27 he was welcomed into heaven by God. Our family can’t explain the brokenness we feel losing a son, brother, cousin, uncle, best friend, teammate, he was our everything. The love and light of our lives. Gerry leaves many of us behind and we will miss him terribly, but knowing he’s full of happiness & love playing soccer in heaven with his best friend, gives us comfort. We will cherish all memories shared with him.
