Melting I.C.E Immigration Short Film

Hi! I'm Jose Martinez, student filmmaker and recent DACA recipient. This is a fundraiser for my upcoming short film about an immigration officer who switches bodies, gets trapped inside an undocumented immigrant's body, and must learn to see things from an opposite perspective. My crew and I already have equipment secured, so these funds will be used for location, props, production design, paid talent, and any other production costs.

I'm from El Salvador and have lived in this beautiful country most of my life. However, like millions of others, I'm deprived of some rights, and we need to call attention to that! This film will help educate audiences about the immigrant struggle. So first of all, I have been producing videos for years now. I started making homework film skits and have now progressed to being the top promo/trailer creator in my district, CFISD! (MartzCinema!) Countless videos have pushed my creativity and allowed me to be involved in an abundance of diverse and exciting projects. Then came the big break. My friends and I made a comedic short film and got accepted into South by South West (SXSW), one of the biggest film festivals in the country where we screened our film for festival attendees! What a blessing it was to direct that movie alongside Nana Acheampong and Brandon Mai.

Now is the next step. I want to produce a film that inspires millions of Dreamers, sheds light on immigration injustices, and exposes the hard, insane struggle we go through. This film is not just for Dreamers, it's for every immigrant out there who came to the best country in the world and wants to rejoice and live here peacefully.
