Melody's Song

Donation protected
I’m sure you remember reciting the rhyme, “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me” as a child. If only that’s all it took to internalize self-confidence. Most children struggle with self-doubt or lack of direction at some point in their lives, but for children who are economically disadvantaged or raised in a single-parent home, this state of mind can be even more challenging to overcome. I wrote Melody’s Song and the City of the Voice Snatchers to help all children reach their fullest potential. I am writing today to ask for your help in rolling out phase two of this project.

Helping children and people is my passion. This is my way of giving back to those children who lack support or come from single parent families. I am a singer and recording artist who is also a product of a single family home. The concept of this project is based on my trademark, which encourages children and people to “Live Your Song.”

My inspiration to bring Melody’s Song to children stems from working with countless people who lack the awareness and courage needed to “Live their song.” I know that had they learned to love themselves and build self-esteem as a child, their path to personal and professional fulfillment would have revealed itself sooner and more easily. I want to provide children with a source of inspiration to help them find their hidden song within and realize they are capable of achieving all of their dreams, no matter what their circumstances are.

Melody’s Song and City of the Voice Snatchers achieves that, while also teaching the importance of goal setting, economic empowerment, and other life skills, all within a compelling children’s story bursting with color illustrations. The first in a series centered around Melody, a fierce and feisty little girl, this book invites children to join Melody on an adventure to find her true voice, defeat the evil Voice Snatchers, and discover her destiny. I am deeply proud of book one, but there is so much more this project can achieve! I need your help to expand the Melody’s Song series by publishing new books and making Melody more accessible by bringing her to television and film. All funds raised will help cover the cost of publishing, animation and design, editing, and other startup costs. Creating this book series allows me to live my song. It is my greatest passion to expand its reach and share it with children around the world to help them find theirs. Thank you in advance for supporting this mission by making a donation of any amount. In doing so, you are joining a powerful movement to encourage our country’s greatest resource, its young people, on their path to adulthood.

Risks and challenges
So many children start out with hopes and dreams and due to circumstances get lost along the way and become a statistic. They lack support and lose focus as they transition into young adulthood. These children often have vision, but lack the resources, support, and family structure to provide the foundation needed to see their goals to completion.

I hope to provide a sense of identity and voice to those who feel lost, hopeless and voiceless. I want to teach each child that they have been given their own super power, which they can use to be whoever they want to be and transform the world. Through self-exploration, self-development, and self-investment, they can “Live their song” and overcome the voice snatchers in their life wishing to steal their song.

As an African-American woman growing up in a single parent home who is now a single mother, I know the struggles and challenges many young, black children living below poverty level face.

What if I can inspire others to “Live their song”, pursue their passions and contribute to someone breaking the psychological and economic cycle that had held so many back that have been afraid? African American children are taught to love everyone else and believe in everyone else, but very rarely do we have the self confidence to take action, believe in ourselves and follow our dreams. Melody’s Song and the city of the voice snatchers is about getting your power, birthright and voice back and using it to overcome every opposition to discover who you really are.
