Melisa the Sandwich Lady
Donation protected
The Volunteers requested this fundraiser so we are happy to help.
Melisa has been our Sandwich Program Lady at the North End Soup Kitchen for over 10 years. She rarely takes a day off and at age 72+ years old, she works very hard and at the Soup Kitchen everyday, Monday - Friday. She makes between 250 - 350 sandwiches a day to distribute to the homeless, families, and kids in Flint Michigan. Recently, her hip was so bad she had to have surgery March 9, 2018. She is only part time, so she has no benefits from the Agency and does not get paid while she is off. She will be gone between 10-14 weeks.
SHE DOES PLAN ON RETURNING.
She lives by herself and is now home recovering. She does NOT know the staff and volunteers that work with her is doing this for her. As anyone that knows Melisa, she is the most sweetest person you will ever meet and treats EVERYONE the same. She is dedicated to what she does and works very hard taking her job seriously.
Please - let's all help her with the upcoming bills she will accumulate over the next few months. With no pay coming in, it will be difficult for her. If you have any questions, please call the NESK office and ask for John Manse.
Thank you. and PLEASE SHARE!
Also - thank you for all the very nice comments, I will print and share with Melisa when I give her the donations.
