Melanie Smith and family- fire help
My sister Melanie and her family suffered the unimaginable today- they had a house fire and lost everything but literally the clothes on their backs- thank goodness everyone got out alive but as she is currently disabled and doesn't have insurance in order to cover the replacement of even the most basic necessities they are struggling to figure out how they will survive the next few stressful weeks as they try to pull their life together. If you are able to help Mel, Jorden, Matthew and Pat in any way- they would be very thankful. My sister has the most kind heart of anyone I know, and I know she would be too proud to ask the community, family and friends for assistance. Thank you everyone and all thoughts and prayers are gratefully received!+ Read More
Hi everybody I wanted to provide an update from Mel, Pat and the kids. They are still in a hotel in Parry sound for the short timeframe as There isn’t emergency housing That they can be placed into, however we aren’t sure how long they will be able to stay and each day they face the idea that they don’t have security for a roof over their head. Unfortunately the rental housing market makes it very difficult to find a place and we aren’t sure how long they will be able to stay at the hotel. Social services is involved but like any bureaucratic organization it takes time. Salvation Army has supplied a couple of dinners and people have donated clothing for the kids. We are still in desperate need of personal items As they truly have nothing. As we enter into the Thanksgiving season, if anybody is able to help with donations, prayers etc I know they would appreciate it. From our family to yours, we would like to thank everybody who has called, donated and prayed for my sister and her family.
