Educating a Death Midwife & Doula

I have received the calling to work as a Death Midwife (or Death Doula). I hope to obtain certification to further my education in this journey.
What does a Death Midwife do? They serve the dying and their loved ones by helping plan and advocate for what they wish when dealing with other family members, hospitals, hospice centers, and funeral homes. They can hold vigil and keep sacred space for the dying, offering support for the family both in care facilities and at home.
I hope to also explore becoming a Home Funeral Guide, which is part of the certification program I am planning on entering. With this I will be able to assist with keeping vigil and helping to create a meaningful and comfortable funeral ritual at home.
The amount I'm raising is to help cover the costs of online courses. In order to get the certificate of completion from the group I will be training with, I will have to attend an intensive also. I have no included this in the goal price. It may be a while before I'm able to do this, because I'm a mother to a small child. However, any money beyond the goal amount will be saved back to cover the cost of the intensive in the future, which with travel will likely be around $1,000.
The goal I have covers Certification in End of Life Care online through Moberly Community College ($189), the online module classes through Beyond Hospice ($465, http://beyondhospice.com/), the cost of required reading materials, and any additional fees that come from fundraising.
Completing each step in this goal will help train me to be a resource in my community for those who are in need of extra support during their final days on Earth. I hope carry on the generosity of others by providing a sliding scale for those who may not be able to afford these services otherwise.
