Medication for Summer

. I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who has been my constant companion for 11 years. She is clever and obedient to a fault, (and has obedience and tracking titles) but recently developed Mitral Valve Disease and has a heart condition. Summer is, quite honestly, the only "family" I have.
I live on a small social security payment every month, and struggle to pay for her medication, which usually runs around $60-70 a month with shipping. The drug company, Boehringer Ingelheim, who manufactures her medication (Pimobendin or Vetmedin), has fallen behind in manufacturing the drug, and this is driving up the price which is rapidly getting out of reach for me. My vet wants $50 for a 2 wk. supply. And some of the retailers have increased their price by 25%. I can't let her suffer because I don't have the resources to help her, so I need help to get us through this patch and appreciate any assistance you can spare.
I hate asking, but when it comes to Summer's well being, I can't allow that to get in the way. Any help will be deeply appreciated.
