Medicate The Malamute

Unfortunately Minsc was almost struck down by an autoimmune disease known as IHMA (immune mediated hemolytic anemia) and was hospitalized for a week, most of which was spent in the ICU.

Luckily the amazing staff at UVetwere able to save him, but now he is going to need ongoing care, including blood tests every two days and some very expensive medication ($50 a days worth for both) as well as possible blood transfusions (at least $500 each), for the next 8-10 weeks.

According to the vets his chances of a full recovery are very strong, as long as we can keep up the meds and blood when he needs it, and while he is lacking in energy (having no red cells will do that) he isn't in any pain. 

Those of you who know me know how much Minsc means to me, but for you who don't know, Minsc is not only a Beloved friend and companion, but he is also my mental health assistance animal and has literally saved my life on more than one occasion, and is one of the few things that gets me through the days.

I hate having to ask for help, but Minsc and I would be eternally grateful for any help you could provide in this difficult time.
