Medical Fundraising for Barry Boys

As we sit here scrolling through grandkids photos of Ethan, Eli and Elliot Barry with huge smiles and laughter, tears are rolling down our faces. To the rest of world, these three boys seem healthy, energetic 8, 5 and 3 year old boys that enjoy playing soccer, swimming and running around chasing each other. However, behind those beautiful smiles they are all suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – a genetic disease that causes a progressive loss of muscle strength and later down the line heart and respiratory muscles.
We will never forget when we received the devastating news on June 22. The Seattle Children’s confirmed that Ethan (8 years old) has visible stage of the DMD. His younger brothers Eli (5 years old) and Elliot (3 years old) were confirmed shortly after.
Though researchers have a come a long ways for DMD, unfortunately they still haven’t found a cure. All they can hope and pray for now is to decrease the pain level and slow down the deterioration process.
Just imagine watching a young energetic 8 year old running up and down the stair and all of sudden he/she can’t even lift their leg to take a step, not even if they are using both feet and hands to try to go up the stair. Not being able to run freely and equipment to assist mobility is inevitable.
The Seattle Children’s has been great keeping the family informed and to be able to take part in pilot testing programs, they’ve already started Ethan on Steroids and to be closer to the hospital the entire family must relocate to Washington State and look for a home that does not have stairs.
Though our family has gone through many ups and downs and obstacles of life and have been trying to keep in the limelight, however the OVERWHELMING stress of the diagnoses, medical bills, travel expenses and moving expenses are just getting to be way more than we can handle.
To help Matthew and Kirsten, the Barry/Kadinger families are starting to organize few fundraisers to help with the Medical, travel and moving expenses.
We are staring this Go Fund campaign first and we will be working with different businesses around town to organize a larger event as well.
