Medical Fund for Joy Milby
Donation protected
The family and friends of Joy Milby are helping to raise funds for her medical expenses.
On July 31, 2018, Joy was taken by ambulance in a semi comatose state. She was suffering from a severe and sudden onset of Rhabdomyolysis- a muscle wasting condition. The muscles shed their pigment and clogged her kidneys causing renal failure. Once stable at Pella Hospital, she was transferred to Mercy in Des Moines where she was treated and dialysis was started. After about 40+ days in the hospital and a skilled therapy stint she was released to out patient physical therapy. She has worked hard and made great strides, but her team of physicians and therapists felt it was time to seek more specialized care. As a result of the illness she is left with lots of nerve and muscle damage, paralysis in her feet, and other ongoing nerve and muscle related problems. She has been accepted into the neuro muscular department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic and will be admitted on May 15, 2019.
This fund is to help pay out of pocket expenses, copays, durable medical equipment costs, travel costs and other related expenses.
Please be in prayer for the Dr’s and staff at Mayo Clinic as they do additional diagnostics, assessment and offer further diagnosis and treatment plans.
