On the afternoon of December 26th (the day after Christmas) Javier, the father of my unborn baby girl and the love of my life did not make it home to me. He was involved in a head-on collision that left him incapacitated for several hours on the side of the freeway until paramedics arrived.
After calling hospitals all night and fearing for the worse I found him in an Austin hospital. The impact of the accident was so severe he broke every bone in his face and all his upper front teeth were knocked out. At first sight I couldn't even recognize him and I feared he would be permanently blind for the rest of his life. Since then he has underwent a complete facial reconstruction surgery on January 9th 2018. The swelling from the accident have caused his face to swell so much, the doctors have deemed it best to stich his eyes shut for medical reasons unbeknownst to me. This has added to his discomfort and frustration. He has to use the aid of a respirator to breath and eats using a feeding tube.
It's been incredibly difficult to see someone you love so dearly in this condition but I thank god he's going to live! He has been incredibly strong through all this and has been showing signs of improvement.
Due to the time we have missed from work, we both have lost our jobs, our vehicle and possibly our home. Also, we both were in the midst of transitioning to new employers and did not qualify for health insurance at the time of the accident.
This has been the most emotional and challenging thing I have ever dealt with in my life. I am 6 months pregnant with our baby girl and Javier has a 14 year old daughter. More than anything, I just want Javier to be here with us on that special moment. Right now I feel like both of our worlds are on my shoulders. Please If anyone is able to help in anyway possible it would be such an incredible blessing to me and my family. Anything and everything is appreciated!
