Medical Expenses For My Dad Bruce

Donation protected

I have been so hesitant to start a campaign, as it's very difficult for me to ask for help especially when it involves money. But my father is in need, and unfortunately I am not in a position to help him financially, as he has done for me in the past.

My father was diagnosed with prostate cancer 3 years ago. It spread to his bones and is now pretty much in every bone he's got. So far, he's been pain free which i'm so thankful for. Without going into details and for safety reasons, he was forced to leave his home and ended up in the hospital. From there, at the time I thought a nursing home would be the best place for him because he would get the care he needs. I just found out today, that he will not qualify for Medicaid. He had Medicare, but after 21 days that drops. He has been in the nursing home for roughly a month. So without any other assistance, we are currently having to pay out of pocket which is $400 a day plus tax. He already has a pretty decent bill, and every day he's in there it's another $400.

Based on my conversations with the state and social services and having my father tell me he wants to get out of the nursing home, I decided to bring him home with me. I called him today 12/3 to let him know and he couldn't stop crying he was so happy to know he'll be with me and not have to stay in the nursing home. We don't know how much time he might have left, but his one wish was to pass away at home. Since he can't do that in his own home, I'm glad I can bring him to mine. I am currently working with the home to get him released, hopefully tomorrow.

There will be more bills coming, and never having dealt with this before I'm not 100% sure what I'm in for other than I know this can be devastating. My father and I don't have much, and we're just trying to hold on to what we can. I realized I need to put my pride aside, and ask for help for my dad's sake. So if you can, please donate. Every little bit will help. I plan to use this money to pay for his medical bills and anything else he might need. I will be researching what aid I can possibly qualify for, as he will need a nurse here at least twice a week or more. He's currently in a wheelchair and can't do anything for himself. So 24/7 care is critical. This is probably the most humbling thing I've ever had to do.

Thank you in advance. - Kelly (his daughter)
